Go down to your local mall and have a look at all the people. I mean really look at them.
Are they all tall, tanned, fit and beautiful?
Of course not.
There will be the odd tall tanned fit and beautiful (depending on where you live ) but the vast majority of folks passing by will be affected by one or more of the following -
short
plain
badly dressed
totally ordinary and unremarkable
big nose/chin/ears
balding
bad hair day
a few (or 100!) pounds overweight
b.tchy resting face
boring
self involved
unpleasant personality
an addiction problem
and most of them will be in couples.
So get a grip, stop thinking you are the only person in the world whose love life and looks are not perfect.

While this is good advice it leads people like the op to question themselves even further. Questions like if all these different people are in relationships what do they have that I do not. What is I am lacking which keeps me alone? That sort of thing. I know I have asked myself those very questions in the past.

The one woman that gave me a chance (and I am not really good at getting chances) a few years ago quit dating me because there was no chemistry.
Can any strangers here point the way to light someone's spark enough to maybe find a soulmate down the road? I think I am at the age where I want to settle down and start a family. I lighten up a lot when my nephews visit, and I think having a family is what I want.

Mr Repulsive up there needs to take a good hard look at himself and what he does and says, to see what exactly is acting like a repellent.

I would say in his case, what's "lacking" is courage and self esteem.

In my first sentence I clearly stated it was " good advice" . But introspection can be taken too far and lead to an incorrect conclusion. I know because that happened to me.
