People just talk the talk and believe their own lies. If sex were only about the physical pleasure and nothing more then they would just masturbate and not even bother with having sex with another person ever. Sex is largely an emotional experience whether folks admit it or not.
Men have been wanting to "get laid" for numerous years, and there is nothing wrong with women wanting to "get laid" too.
I think guys who sl*t shame women with multiple partners are tools, there is no reason why men and women should be scorned or marginalized for having multiple partners. If it's two consenting adults are safely enjoying themselves, what's the big deal.

It can be a shared emotional experience, but it seems that for many people on this forum, it is a shared physical experience and the emotional component is all about boosting their own ego and self esteem.

Perhaps that may apply to other guys, but I don't get laid to boost my ego and self esteem. I get laid to experience sex and an orgasm because it's a biological/carnal desire. The emotional aspect of sex and relationships are still important to me, and something i foster, but I don't always connect to the physical part of sex. It's like masterbation and porn, should there be an emotional component or ego/self-esteem boosting aspect to it? The answer is obvious.

I find this odd. I don't know if I believe them.
I think people crave the experience of sex and sometimes make mistakes in judgement due to lust, and have sex with the wrong person (read: someone they're not all that physically or emotionally attracted to) and then afterwards say "oops, what did I just do?", then back away.
Even if they set out in their mind to just use someone for the physical experience and ego boost, and they succeed in getting someone to do this with, then this will feel good to them, and they will want to do it again with the same person. And again. And again and again. Next thing you know, they're "together".
I think very few people are sociopaths or actual players, even though there are plenty of wannabee players in their own minds. lol
Sex is not something you get from someone, it's not something they give to you nor something you take or are owed. Sex is a shared experience that you have with another. Get over this selfish mindset if you actually want to form connections in your life.
It's true that you don't have to be in a relationship to have and enjoy sex, but I think that jilla was touching on the idea that a lot of the younger guys have on this board that women don't want sex and dole it out as a reward or a payment. They talk about sex as something that a woman gives a man, not something that they share together. Many, but not all women want sex, but most women want sex with a man who likes and respects her (regardless of whether she just met him or they've been married for years.) Others never seem to want it no matter what.
I ask my husband to pick up some sex at the grocery store on the way home all the time!
Oh wait... That's ice cream... Never mind...
