Other people's love lives.
Recent deaths of persons you know.
Deaths of persons you know from the media.
A specific fungus wreathing your nether regions.
Your latest illness.
Past love failures.
Past abuse (as a victim)

It seems if we need this much of a road map, maybe a person shouldn't be dating. I guess common sense isn't so common if we need a directory like this. And last I read on another thread, the most recent generation was into hook-ups. If this is the step-up they need to move beyond, well, I'm glad I can help.

Don't talk about sex, politics or religion, on the first date........

Why?? because it can be a real convo killer if people have vastly differing ideas..... or if you do talk about them, just dabble, nothing heavy....

Sex, politics, religion, exes, anything negative, technical, logical or boring.

Really? It was just a simple question that didn't need backlash. I have my own opinions on what not to talk about but I was just curious as how to others feel about this issue.

Past relationships, exes, too much negativity. Racist thoughts. Although to be honest I count on men showing me these things so I know early that they're not my type.

Married mom here, but IMHO:

For a first date, I'd agree, but since all three of those issues (esp. sex and politics) are VERY imporant to me, I never wanted to drag on too long if someone was incompatible in that regard with me. I'd give it a couple dates though to see if the other dynamics work well enough.

1. My work. Nothing causes eyes to glaze over faster than the term "spectroelectrochemistry."

2. My ex-wife.

3. My softball statistics. Yes, my OPS is higher than 1.8 this year and my fielding percentage is somewhere around 0.960, but my date doesn't need to know that. Ever.

4. Scatalogical humor. I save that for the second date.
