Say you really disliked the city you lived in and could move to a city where you'd be happier, but that would mean you'd have to leave your girlfriend / boyfriend behind?

If one would be happier moving I would assume that person is not happy with their relationship.

It is usually best when one can find happiness with their partner and the city they live in. It causes much less drama and resentment in the future.

If she's only a GF that I don't intend on marrying or anything like that I don't see any reason to be that committed to her. I feel that way in general though. That just dating or being BF-GF with someone really doesn't mean much more than I'm exclusively with them for the time being.

That's quite a conundrum. If you're stressed out in the city you live in for various reasons but like the woman you have a relationship with there, that could be a difficult decision.

I moved FROM Santa Barbara, Ca and my homestate TO St Louis Missouri to be with my fiance. (now husband). If they are the "the one" you'd be willing to live in an igloo in Antarctica as long as you're together.

The relationship trumps location. We'd both rather be somewhere other than where we are, but financially are stuck here for the foreseeable future.

Only a boyfriend?
I would consider moving. Dating someone is no reason to be otherwise miserable.

Engaged is a different story, as is married (of course!).

If I hate the city that much I'd move and dump my SO provided I have the right job. I can date in any city.
