I think the ideal of the sleekly hairless male is*more of a homosexual ideal than a heterosexual one.

I like hairy guys. For the record, I've dated guys of lots of different ethnicities and they have run the gamut hair wise. Hairy or hairless has never been the determining factor in who I dated- I just prefer some hair on the chest.

This whole "hairless male" thing is a recent trend in consumer media. A few decades ago advertisements for fashion and other products didn't have men with perfectly shaved chests. I don't think we should confuse media trends with the general preference of women (in the US), in the same way we shouldn't think that female models are incredibly thin to pander to men (they are thin for aesthetic purposes and often marketed to a female audience).

In any case, I will not be shaving my body, because without that hair I look like a 12 year old girl with my clothes off, and that just ain't right.

While I prefer to improve on physical aspects statistically more correlated with attraction such as a waist to shoulder ratio in favor of the shoulder; there is rationale for discussing this component of the male body.

On the caveman vs hairless boy continuum, where does this fit in? I stylize the hair on my torso into intricate shapes, with a happy trail leading from the abs to the hairless *******. I avoid shapes that are overly pointy, I don't want to give off the impression that I have an arrow on my abs pointing downward.
