Patrick Bateman:

How many jobs have you had? What were the policies at your jobs regarding flirting with your co-workers?

I am surprised that this question was even posted.

Another thing to consider ...

At work, your employer invests a lot of money in hiring and training their employees.

If flirting at work leads to a relationship (or even a quick sexual encounter), and then to a breakup a short time thereafter, one of the couple may decide they are not comfortable working with the other, and they may decide to quit.

So employers potentially can loose valuable employees by allowing people to flirt with each other at work.

As the old saying goes ... "never get your meat at the same place you get your bread".

This. Also, when you're at school, you're on your own dime. You pay tuition, you show up to class, and the rest isn't anyone else's concern. When you work for an employer, you're there on HIS dime. He basically owns you for 40 hours/week. HE decides what you do and don't do with your time. Most employers don't want any distractions for their employees, and they sure don't want some flirtation or liaison between workers to suddenly blow up in everyone's face and cause problems.

At school, you are paying to be there, so what you decide to do during that time is up to you.

At work, they are paying you to do what they want, so trying to hit on chicks should be done on your own time.

IME harassment usually starts at the job interview.

You pay for school
An employer pays you to do a job
which is generally not flirting and wasting
company time.

You can't pay your bills with pie.

But maybe you don't have any bills?

Do you still live with your parents?
