He slept over a couple of days ago. He may have planted them when we were sleeping put a bs number in there probably a friend of his and they tested each other.
When you snooped through your husband's phone, why didn't you just write down the phone number and call it?
Earlier my stepson told me of my husband's supposed history of infidelity. So I looked through his phone and found steamy texts to other women. I am at a lost for what to do. It crossed my mind that my stepson may have planted these texts but it seems so out of character for him. What should I do?
Tell your husband that you no longer trust him because his son told you he was cheating and you decided to go snooping in his phone.
Tell him the right thing to do was to take the word of a child over trusting your husband and actually asking him about this alleged issue.

Kind of sounds like the stepson was looking out for her though.

Maybe, but that depends upon the relationship between the OP and the stepson. If they get along and care for each other like family, then yes, he might be looking out for her.
OTOH, if he doesn't like his stepmommy then he might be sabotaging her.

Seems far-fetched but then it should be easy to determine. Were all the "steamy" texts sent a couple of days ago when you would have been sleeping? If hubby has been sexting other women then he would have been doing it for awhile now. Were the women responding?
Pretty easy to cross check numbers.
I doubt the son in law would have sent "steamy texts" to just anyone.
Once you have a number, you have a name. These things not private.
That said, you should be telling your husband all this...
Get it all out in the open and cut the bull**** from either end.
