I can't remember. I know there is one that asks if you want kids or not.

Most have an option of what you're looking for, but few (iirc) specifically mention marraige. They might narrow it down to: friends, long term relationships, casual sex, etc.

If there isn't, there probably should be. However, I expect a lot of male users would realize that admitting they never want to marry would seriously deplete their potential dating pool and lie about it.

Yep. POF has "looking for someone to marry" as one of its options (which strikes me as "looking for a green card," but that's just my cynicism bubbling up).

The tricky thing there though, is that PoF makes it seem like the user is looking to get married immediately, which might scare people off.

Or maybe not. Like anyone reads the profiles anyway. I had mine listed as looking for "dating but nothing serious" and got a bunch of creepy messages. Thought if I changed it to looking for "a relationship" that would cut back on the creep factor, but it didn't.

OKC doesn't give that as an option on the main profile questions (new friends, short-term dating, casual sex and long-term dating are the options). However, there is at least one of the optional matching questions that asks if you are looking to settle down and get married. That one isn't yes or no-I answered settle down, yes, get married no.

They no longer seem to be mutually exclusive. Someone may want kids but for some reason getting married isn't beneficial to them. I had a co-worker who was waiting to get married to her boyfriend until he finished school because it would have somehow affected his GI bill if they were married. Another co-worker's income was taken into consideration when they got married and his ex sued for more child support.

When people ask me this, my first response is "to you?"

Marriage isn't a general thing. Wanting to get married for the sake of getting married makes no sense to me and I think it is part of the problem... people have in their life bucket list. Degree, job, married, children... check, check, check, check... instead of, when and if I meet someone I adore with all my heart and we work together well I want to express to the world I love her and want to spend my life with her... that's a specific situation with a specific person, not a check box on a questionnaire.
