In relationships or when married, people usually hear about women gaining happy weight. But is it true that men gain happy weight? I know my DH has gotten a little gut over time, but nothing too major. If anything, I've gained a little weight...trying to lose it though...

My husband has gained about 10lbs since I first met him 20+yrs ago but that was mainly due to maturing (we were teens when we met). I hope that doesn't mean he's miserable! LMAO

Happy weight? Seriously.

People gain weight because they are lazy and don't eat right. Bottom line.

Yes.

If I was single, but everything else in my life was the same (career, location etc.), I'd be working out two hours a day instead of one, and eat salmon and broccoli each night for dinner.

Having a woman that is creative in the kitchen, that loves video games as much as you do and that you actually want to spend time with, forces you to focus on "us" instead of "me." The fit look is helpful in attracting bed-warmers when you're lonely. A little chub isn't a deal breaker in an existing relationship. My tummy is thankful for my fiancée's good cooking!!

This is true... but I also think people who don't decrease their food and/or increase their activity as they age fall "victim" to a slowing metabolism. For them, they are doing what they always did in their youth (and are stayed fit) but as you age, it doesn't work so well. You have to adjust and decrease your calories or increase your activity or both... and most people don't do either. Especially those that start having joint issues or old sports injuries giving them problems with age.

I call this getting comfortable, and I think it happens to men and women.

I gain weight when I have a boyfriend who likes to eat out, because he buys and I eat more that I would normally at home. On my own I don't eat out much.

IDK if that is 'Happy Weight' or not.

And I don't think you can generalize this to men and/or women. It's going to be an individual thing, right?

If you are in a secure relationship, you might get more sex and burn some calories, or you might be more motivated to stay trim for your SO, or you might be more active because you have someone to do your favorite activities with.

OR if you are in a secure relationship, you might let yourself go because he/she loves you just the way you are and you have nothing to prove.
