Everyone I know who has died, save for two, has been taken by cancer. Windsor has a really high cancer rate, and me thinks this little operation in Detroit, just might have something to do with it:

It's an iron ore facility for US Steel. The prevailing winds blow it's garbage clean over the city. Sometimes they like to clean out their stacks. These plums of jet black "smoke" shoot high in to the air. And then you watch it blow over here, and as it does, you can see it dropping down, like seeing the rain of a storm far off in the distance.

I'm sorry, Hawk.

Esophageal cancer took my dad when he was 41.
I feel very sorry for both of you. Losing a wife and dad is just heartwrenching .

We've only lost 2 family members to cancer...the majority are heart related deaths.

My son's friend is battling cancer right now...he's 15 and has an aggressive form of non-hodgkin's lymphoma. He's played baseball with him for a few years now. We're at a tournament and it's odd not having him here, participating. He's usually the biggest "cheerleader" of the bunch, always very vocal, and it's odd not to have his voice on the field.

On a different note, my son hates me tonight, so I guess I'm doing my job
But it sucks.

Won't be the first time and he will either get over it or he won't but I bet he will when he needs something tangible or emotional.

My kids hated me one and off for a few years, if you are a parent and your children don't hate you at some point you have very passive children or you aren't much for doing your parental duty. (my opinion only and affects me alone).

I wouldn't let him go in the ocean at night, play football on the beach 3 hotels down from us alone (at night) and I wouldn't let him walk to the Baskin Robins that was about 1/2 mile away.

It's not that I don't trust him, but last night we ran into a few drunks when we were out and about and I think a group of young teen boys is an invitation for trouble, so I didn't let him go.

Some parents did let their kids go, and that was the issue. I'm too strict, according to him.
