The fact you know that one has more than given me a giggle

I've always LOVED the Americans and their way but love it even more when they know about British phrases and culture

My pop is from Sheffield, I'm from Bermuda, no shortage of Brits on my side.

I'm late to this but you're in your early 20's, right? 10+ years is an enormous age spread at that age. 60 miles when you don't have a car makes this guy "geographically undesirable". Have fun with the fantasy but the odds are against it. I've read everything you've written in this thread. You write well. It sounds like you've been dealt a pretty lousy hand but you haven't let it beat you down. In case you have never gotten the memo, there's an order you do things in life. Get your education. Get yourself established in a career. Meet someone like-minded who is also on that track. Get yourself into a stable long-term relationship. Then start thinking about having children. It looks to me like you're still stalled on the get your education part and you're marking time at a McDonald's. Focus on bettering yourself. If you're on a track where you have a career and can support yourself, you're going to meet guys way better than 33-year-old ice cream boy. There are tons of programs out there you can take advantage of to improve yourself. Most of them are free for low income people. Start thinking about what you might want to pursue that will give you a career instead of marking time.
