I would like to know how you met your partner beause it seems that I am not searching in the correct places.
Bars do not appear to be a place to meet people. In fact, I have been watching women and men closely and for relatively long time in bars and it does not seem that men indeed approach women a lot. Even if a man came, it is typically clear that they know each from a long time.
So I just want to know some real-life occasions you may share here. Thanks in advance.
The best place for most guys to meet women is some kind of activity or social event where they have something in common with the women.
Guys who do well in clubs and bars are usually very outgoing and have a lot of social skills. This a relatively small part of the population. Additionally, most women at bars are not there looking for a long term partner.
At work. We were both getting our common access cards and she and I were the only ones in the waiting room. She looked very shy and I tried to break through and get her to smile. It took awhile, but I did get through and we started dating shortly thereafter.
She told me later she was thinking, "what does that old man want from me?" (I am nine-years older than she is).
16 years later, she still asks me that question. I think the bloom will be off the rose when she stops asking.
Welcome back to college event, big bonfire. My new roommate and I timidly stood back and watched, surveying the surroundings, trying to get up the nerve to join. Bonfire so big a couch was burning in the middle. A guy went running by us with no shirt on, long curly hair, cartwheeled onto the couch and landed on his feet outside of the fire.
I looked at my roommate, (only half kidding) and said: That's the man I'll marry someday
I was with him from the time I was 18 until I turned 40.

What happened when you turned 40? Did he try the couch trick again and fail?

Hahahaha! I'm sure he would've still done the couch on fire thing, if there was an audience!
No, the first 15 years were amazing and magical, full of adventure and many many learning opportunities. Producing an impressive young lady who is now a productive adult.
The last 5 were miserable with an addiction that I imagine has ruined his life, haven't heard from him since-- and he missed out on the milestones of raising a child.
She worked at one of the shops I delivered fuel to.
