What to Do About Bad Breath That is RUINING a Relationship?
What to Do About Bad Breath That is RUINING a Relationship?
I've wondered about this for many years, I had a friend who had the worst breath in the world, it smelt like a septic tank I kid you not, he would ride with me to college and I had to roll the window down no matter how cold it was or I would gag. The wierd thing was he always had girlfriends, I don't know how they could stand it because it wasn't just in the morning, it was 24-7.
You should make an appointment for your partner to see a dentist. If he doesn't have the money, you pay for it. Have a talk with your partner and tell him that you care very much for him and you are concerned about his dental health. Basically, you are doing this out of love and concern.
Gee, I don't know, Bunky. I've had the misfortune of dancing with some people who had killer breath! I mean, it's a damn good thing I dance with my head waaaaaaay out to the left and back otherwise I'd probably have died from some of those toxic fumes.
Wow! Never in a million years would I have expected such an innocent inquiry to have garnered such broad interest from those who wished to help me! Thank you all very much! I suppose I've just been afraid to tell him because at the same time I know that if it is indeed medically-related (as I'm presuming it is), then neither he nor I will be able to afford to pony over thousands of dollars for corrective treatment, and he'll then feel burdened by knowing his partner finds his breath to be offensive while not having any solution available to make things more bearable.
A dental exam, full mouth xrays ( to check for periodontal disease and/or decay), and periodontal screening with dental cleaning by a dental hygienist with oral health health education (Flossing is mandatory and tongue scrapping essential) is a step in the right direction. Good luck!
PS: Use an electric toothbrush (Oral B Braun or Sonicare) and a tongue scrapper minimum twice daily to maintain fresh breath after your professional dental cleaning.
If he has tonsil stones, which are caused by postnasal drip, and his breath smells like poop have him try sinus irrigation twice a day. Within two weeks the problem should be much better if that's what it is.
