Women have almost always posted sexualized photos - if they are attractive (or just honest), they know men are looking for a woman they find attractive. Sex sells. It has never been as acceptable for men to sexualize their photos, so the stigma about shirtless pictures (unless there is a suitable context, like actively swimming). Besides, fitted clothing is usually sufficient for either gender to convey their figure and fitness, but even then, some cleavage will work wonders for women.

You are operating under the false assumption that shirtless male selfies are universally sexy. They clearly aren't to most women. It's the same false equivalency that the OP is making.
I like my physique, but most women would probably laugh at a shirtless profile pic of me because it's supposed to be "gym ripped" and not "lean & mean". This dogsh1t is all about expectations and not personal preference really, as far as I can tell.
If most women like power-lifters (some of which are friends of mine), good luck because they're like bass players who can shred. I know about the same in terms of statistical numbers. If this is how OLD works, this is why OLD fails.
That's not how it works, and it doesn't fail if you do it right, i.e. don't be a d-bag with shirtless pics. It ain't rocket science.

Yup, the popularity of Magic Mike is because of the dancing

Something tells me there aren't many Channing Tatums on this forum. Just saying. And even he would probably look like a dork if he were an unknown rando on the internet taking a bathroom mirror selfie rather than a movie star with a team of makeup, lighting, camera, and editing professionals.

This. I wasn't particularly fond of shirtless photos. They just didn't do it for me. *shrug*

I don't know, man. The dancing is a big part of it. A decent looking guy just standing there is fine, but when a decent looking guy starts dancing *like that* a girl starts thinking about what else he can do.

Sure, it's a part, and it frames it, but put tubby dudes up there doing the same moves and you don't have a hit.
Why? Are you worried they can beat you in an arm wrestle?
