How would you personally describe the difference between the two?

Have you ever thought you were in love before only to find out it was infatuation? If so, at what point did you realize it wasn't love?

Same as many confuse lust with love.

Infatuation can't last long before the bubble bursts...when you find out they're not "perfect" you don't have enough real feelings for them to get past that - it's all based on superficial things.

In another thread, Don'tH8me said, "... does this guy, in word and deed, inspire me to be the best version of me?"

If you can answer yes, and explain why, it's love. If you blow off the question, or more importantly resent the question, it's just infatuation (and a good reason to bail).

Infatuation gets you excited. Love makes your heart tickle.

Infatuation is a fleeting, temporary feeling that is involuntary. Love is a verb, as the saying goes. It is a decision you make to love someone even after infatuation fades.

Infatuation is when you think they can do no wrong.

Love is when you see the wrong but love them anyways.

Infatuation is mostly the delight of new attention.
