Would you date someone who is fit and has a good career, making about $70,000, but who is about $100,000 in debt (mostly student loans), and who pays off about $1,000/month?

Student loan debt never bothered me, providing payments are made and the person is actively employed thanks to degrees attained.

Other debt I wouldn't necessarily view the same, and context would come into play.

Date them? Sure.

Marry them? No.

Define "good career". Is it stable... is $70k entry with lots of room for growth.. prospects... outlook....

A recent grad medical doctor with $100k in school debt is actually pretty darn good start. There was a recent thread concerning a Dentist programs ranging to as much as $100k PER YEAR.

Also, at $1000/month they'll be debt free in about 10 years... that's assuming they don't put more later. That's not too bad... actually.

With that said, I would consider dating them.

Man, I don't see a problem.

Why do some people think dating someone automatically makes their financial obligation theirs? Are people cosigning financial loans with a potential partner before going on a date these days? Lol

I cant believe this is a serious question. Just unbelievable.

Agreed! Dont worry about their bills!
What percent of dates end in marriage? How are you finding out about their debt, anyway, are they applying for a loan to buy your drink?

Exactly. Lol.

Before I go on a date with you, can I please request a copy of your W2 forms for the past 3 years, a recent credit report from 3 major credit reporting companies, and while your at it, your recent STD testing/health exams.

Are you the one in debt? Try not putting that info in your on-line profile. Your responses should get better.
