I`m automatically going to assume the worst from this situation. It sounded to me that the man was angry, and took his frustrations out on the poor dog, instead of correcting him like a real man would.
Whats the diffrence? LOL... Man and dog...thats the diffrence! Big diffrence.
I don`t believe in shock fences, or a shock collar to get the dog to stop barking, or do I like the idea of choke chains. I definetly don`t believe in a swift kick in the a$$, to correct your dog either.
More people should watch The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan for trying to correct a dog with bad behaviour, not a swift boot to the haunch.
I missed the whole "death" thing... I'm guessing it wasn't as a result of the boot, right???

Anyway, to me "kicking" is vague. Swatting a dog on the behind has ALWAYS been acceptable form of discipline for canines around most everyone I know. My mother (who LOVES dogs) will give a hard 'tap' to the snout to correct her dog.

I guess I just don't see a "kick" in and of itself as all that bad... I wasn't there. I didn't see it. So I really don't know.

I'm guessing if the OP felt this was an open and shut item she'd have felt no need to ask about it. So I'm offering my opinion on it..

I had seen this person hit the dog-- very badly and mentioned it to his wife, he wouldnt even allow the dog to leave the small mat area in the kitchen (he would yell at it if it tried to go to the living room, etc.) it was abuse; the dog was a golden retriever, sweet dog.
