No. When using percentages, it doesn't matter.

I have a feeling the increase is mainly due to the current generation being more willing to admit it than previous generations were.

.....Final datapoint: the share of young men reporting no female sex partners since they turned 18 -- a rough a proxy for virginity --.........

So, according to this study, all the young homosexual men out there can still be counted as virgins?

Young men with no female sexual partners might very well be a reflection on the greater acceptance of homosexuality. Not so many people are hiding it and the TV shows and advertisers now seem to think it is important to show same sex couples kissing passionately.

Maybe the young generation of homosexuals no longer feel the need to date women in order to hide who they are? They feel free to be themselves instead of pretending to be someone they aren't?

I'm not sure, I think its unique amongst the millennial generation. Millennials are breaking records in terms of low marriage rates, birth rates that have never been seen before. They really are a different generation.

Can you blame them, or anybody for that matter? STD's, social media, shifting gender roles, not to mention the lack of interpersonal relationships, no faith in the future and the fact that sex is more a burden than a joy.

Japan has a huge problem with young people who have given up on sex. Young people see the future and there future looks dismal.

On a positive note I am sure virtual sex is on the rise.

Sounds like young men doesn't want to have sex anymore?

since the women's rates are lower, it shows that THEY still like having sex and know where to find it

Young men do not know how to form the kinds of connections that lead to sex. They isolate themselves with solo pursuits. And the fastest growing athletic event now is E-Sports.

As you can see there was no gender disparity in previous years, so I wonder whats driving that?

I guess most women are having sex with an increasingly smaller pool of guys?

I do think that a greater percentage of young men are sexless compared to previous generations due to primarily what you mentioned.

Women get turned off by a man still living with his parents at a certain age or having roommates. They also don't want to be a bank account paying for the majority of things if the man makes significantly less.

Gaming, porn, lack of good paying jobs, living at home later in life or with roommates, the good looking players getting the majority of sex online, I can see how it can be true.

Glad I wasn't born into this generation of low paying jobs and shaky economy.
