Actually, this behavior does have a medical explanation. There is a number of paraphilias, including paedophilia, that are caused by faulty wiring in the brain

Because he is twisted and sick. Perhaps sexually molested as a child??? Maybe but still no excuse. A guy in my area was fired from his job as a high school teacher after he was caught by students watching child porn and feeling on himself while watching it.

As I do agree that someone that goes out of their way to have downloads of child porn on their computer is a bit unsettling, you need to understand something. There are ways to help out the person, but putting them on a sex offenders list or getting them thrown in jail is NOT the way to go. That just causes more stress, makes them feel worse about themselves, and makes them more likely to have a mental breakdown and actually ACT upon their fetish.
Pedophilia is a mental disorder. Usually, something causes this fetish to occur at a young age. Whether it be they had a sexual experience (such as molestation or finding pornography on a computer), or simply catching their parents going at it and receiving the talk, there is usually a specific reasoning behind everything they go to find.
Some of these people solely look at it for the "rush". It is wrong to do, it is dirty, and it makes them feel good to look at something that is not socially acceptable. In the end, they usually feel guilty for it, but the adrenaline rush from it is what is the addictive factor in it all. The perfect way to describe this reasoning behind pedophilia is called "drug addiction." It is like a drug; you get that rush, usually hit a low from it, but then you find yourself wanting it again later on.
As wrong as it is, there are MANY cases where a young sibling (prepubescent or not), ends up molesting their younger sibling. Both parties could end up wanting to look at child porn after this. It is highly saddening, but it has always happened. Go look up what gorillas do to their own children, or even the siblings of their families. It IS wrong, but it is very natural. I get the argument that we are a developed society with moral standards (things that are not socially acceptable exist, etc), but you can't stop any of it from occurring.
As I said, it is a mental thing. The greatest way to take care of this is NOT by jail or giving it away to the world on the internet. It is to either put them on a specific medication to lower testosterone levels in both males and females (yes, women can be diagnosed with pedophilia, too), or group therapy. Just as you would take care of a bipolar person, or a drug addict/alcoholic. Throwing them in prison does NOT help.
But in all honesty, they ought to let these people loose in the general prison population, and let it be known what their offense is.
The prisoners would pick off a child molester in a heartbeat ( and do it much more painfully than just lethal injection), and save us the tax dollars.

Oh, and you're FOR the death penalty? Are you serious? I think that's just sick of you to say such things. I get that it's bad, but it's MENTAL. It can be turned around with the proper help, and I am all for saying that everyone deserves a 2nd chance. Seriously.
SP93, I once beleived that a person could be rehabilitated or retrained to do things differently. Perhaps there are more or less intense levels of inclinations to do this...however my personal experience has led me to think that even if people are in the process of rehabilitation they may be even MORE triggered to act on their inclinations. As well as being trained on the way that they can avoid legal interruption.
You know what I mean? By the time an offender re-enter's the world after incarceration, they have learned that they should never ever get caught. This I think leads the offender who can't rehabilitate into more and more dark places that they may have never thought of going.
This whole thing makes me physically ill, and the families of the offender, the families of the victims, the INNOCENTS are the ones who suffer the most because of the DECISIONS and ACTIONS of the offender! How should I come to feel sorry for someone who is getting their jollies from the degredation and predation of children?
Vigilante justice has never looked so - appealing. That's what I think about that.
