Do you think it would be too much strain if you married a police officer?

Two incidents. Two hemispheres of the world. Bizarre differences.

2002 and Eastern hemisphere:
Antlers is 22 and is wild in the height of his youth. Roadside misbehaviour. Gets cornered by the cop. Makes subtly lewd advances. Gets a devastating hit with the huge stick. Hot cop or coppess. Angry woman

2008 and Western hemisphere:
Antlers is 28 and is still wild in his old age. Speeding in New York's I-95. doing 75 on a 55mph freeway. Hits on the cop repeatedly. Gets a ton of smiles, blushing and a ticket. Wonders if he can call the cop into a lunch meeting. Gets reminded he isn't single Hot coppess. Lovely babe

I did tons of research and even hung around police stations and everyone was old. Dunno where she popped out from, or she was one of those "I'm 50 yet look like I'm 30" characters

Not a Policeman but a Policewoman. Policemen have too much body hair for me.lol...... Seriously I would, as I have many friends that are LEO's. I almost wrecked my truck going around a corner a few years back looking at a female Police Officer. She was a very pretty one that didn't look like your typical female officer. That would have been good, get into a wreck because I was eyeballing a female officer. I have a great relationship with my local P.D. because I help them fix their junk when it isn't working. I even help them at their houses with handyman stuff. Any LEO is a friend of mine!

Why are you asking? I am a recently retired police officer (30 years on the job) and have been married for 26 years. Wife and I started dating before I became a police officer. We've had a wonderful marriage and two great kids. I worked a lot of nights, weekends and plenty of holidays. I made a good living and provided, along with the wife, a comfortable living. Have a decent pension as well. Would I trade any of it? No and I believe my wife would say the same thing.

I have never faced the prospect of being married to a police officer but knowing myself I would have to say I would be scared to death every time he left the house to work...sounds terribly stressful for everyone involved.

I couldn't answer the poll since the way it is worded. This would be a poll that should be yes/no/I don't know, with out the extra commentary. Someone may not be willing to marry a police officer because they don't want to live in fear that their spouse may not return home each night. That has nothing to do with the commentary of because they have a bad reputation.

Someone may be willing to marry a police officer, but it may not be because they believe the spouse will protect them.

Now to anser the question, I would have no problem with it. My wife is a security officer, and is basically just like being a police officer but only on her job site. I do worry about her many of nights, but it is the career she chose, and I respect her enough to support this choice.

My neighbor is a cop and apart from the shift work, I think working here is quite easy (it's rural) compared to the BIG CITY he used to work in.

Cops get good pay, a nice pension...hey, it's steady work.

I did have a friend in college whose brother in law was a cop in NYC. He was young and got killed. Left behind 3 little girls and his wife. Very sad...

I'm curious why their divorce rate is so high? Is it the stress of the job?
