Just curious. For me a couple of main reasons. I'm sometimes up working till 3-4am and this site helps keep me amused in the wee small hours.
Also I have actually enjoyed and learnt more about myself on the relationship front from posting here and relationships in general, which has been valuable for me.
I'm not one to sit down with mates and talk about relationships in detail, but in a more anoymonous way here I don't mind so much.
To learn I know very little about women. I'm also working on my tactics and try to read as much as I can. Signed Mr. Burly Knownothing!
I stumbled upon this message board as I was researching a possible relocation to Charlotte, NC from Atlanta for a job. I found more on here about Charlotte than I could anywhere else. Then I discovered the "relationship" part of the site. It reminds me of how I met my now ex-wife, on a message board (Askmen.com), which I also discovered by accident when I was bored at work one day back in 2001. It was the best (and now worst) thing that ever happened, meeting her that way. I met the woman I thought was my soul mate.
So why am I on here? I'm really just on here to learn more about relationships and get the occasional advice on dating. But I'm still recovering from my divorce, and so the dating isn't really happening at the moment.
What is your main purpose in posting in this section of the Forum?
I have asked myself that very question many times. At first it was the beautiful rich women. Then it was the death defying adventure. That got old and it then became an outlet to pass time when the weather did not allow outdoor pursuits. Finally it was the slow decay of mental faculties brought on by reading many of the Topics from particular posters.
I originally came to this forum to explore options for real estate holdings in Arizona and to get the feel of what was going on there on a local level. The more I hung around City-Data, the more I found that there were many other sections of the forum, up to and including "Relationships". I saw that and thought, "Wow! I've actually had a few of those along the way" and also figured it would be interesting to view various perspectives of others, make reasonable assessments of what's going through people's brains, understand outlooks other than my own, etc. pertaining to relationships... bad idea!hahaha
Obviously it turns out that I am totally lame in the "relationship" dept. though. This is the only section of the forum that I have had my posts altered or deleted, so maybe I should stick with other topics. I've read through quite a few posts about the ups and down of people's dating habits, relationships, what they are looking for in the opposite sex, etc. I have read about the particulars of people's relationships that they have posted about... "I met this guy", "I met this girl", "My boyfriend this", "my girlfriend that" so I posted about one of my relationships.
As it turns out, my relationships don't even qualify to be on this forum. My recommendation and advice at this point to all in this forum is that if you develop a relationship with a one-eyed Catalunian gypsy girl in Atlantic City... don't tell anyone about it and for darn sure don't write about it on here. Instead post in another section and discuss your thoughts on extraterrestial life, talk about silver bullion investments and potentials, join a debate on political climates in Madagascar... ANYTHING except your cavorting with one-eyed Catalunian gypsy girl.
THANX .....ROFL.........it ain't been easy either....28 years.....OY VEY!!!!
