Me too. My boyfriend needs a suit - I'd love to see him in one, but the type of work he does, he'll never need one unless they put him in management. We haven't been to a wedding or a social function in years that required wearing formal wear, unfortunately.
I think every guy who doesn't need suits for work should have a navy blazer in his closet that he can wear with khaki or gray slacks. Pair this with a dress shirt and a nice tie, and you've got a dress-up look with flexibility.

Thanks. I'm going to seriously think about that for him.
How important is the way someone dressed when you consider dating someone? I ask this mostly because it doesn't seem like girls are interested in me maybe because of my baggy clothes. They might assume Im a thug even though Im really a nice guy. So really what would be your take on this?
There are also total jerks out there wearing $5,000 suits. If you are really a nice guy, that will come out, and the right woman will discover that.
Jeans and t-shirt for me, shorts in the summer. That's all I ever wear. I don't really care what anyone thinks about how I look, either. I don't expect (or necessarily want) any attention from females.
Sloppy is what my friends and I call "lunchy". Meaning, they look like they slept in their clothes in a van down by the river, and dropped food blops on themselves, but don't notice it. Scruffy isn't sexy.

I think it all depends on the region, lifestyle, etc.
If you're in the small town South (20,000 people or smaller), jeans and t-shirts usually suffice. Maybe a button up shirt with jeans every so often. During the winter I'll wear a v-neck sweater or button-up (when it's actually cool enough) with jeans but that's about as dressed up as I go. If I'm too "stylish" that's just going to make people think you're either gay or showing off too much. Is that the greatest attitude to have? Of course not. In places where there's not a lot of disposable income to use on fashion, well, it just doesn't come off very well. But I'll always be well-groomed, wear cologne, shave, etc. You'll never catch me in a camoflauge hat and a sleeveless shirt. J-Crew is what I usually do. And I've gotten compliments on the way I dress several times. So I think it's all relative.
I think it's great to dress GQ, but different things fly in different areas.
