I have a friend who is really shy. She despises going out to any clubs are bars, and to be honest she rarely goes out, I keep telling her that she has to go out. She has tried online dating, but to no avail. what do you suggest?
Throw a party or have a cook-out and invite some guys who you think may be a good match and see where it goes. It's usually easier for shy folks to meet others when they are in familiar surroundings and through people they already know.
thanks coolhand, I have thrown parties and she either doesn't come to them or pouts while there; she is not an outgoing person, but she is 28 and is looking for love.
She could try taking some classes with people of mutual interests...dance classes, music lessons, art/drawing/sculpting, fitness, cooking, etc. It might be easier to meet others under circumstances that aren't as stressful for her.

Awww, I'm shy too so I can relate...how about telling her to volunteer w/ a local interest group (animal shelter, etc.) or something she has an interest in? Usually, those places have nice men...or (I don't know if she's religious) but she could always join a singles ministry at a church...? I hope that helped.
She has been on dates with men and they never call back, at least that's what she tells me. some guys have told her that she was boring. Many men claim to like shy women, but I guess they don't.
Habitat for Humanity = man buffet. Seriously though, it's a good place to meet good people, just friends.
