Women like sex for sure, but on their own terms. They don't NEED it or think about it as much as men do. While more women are behaving more like men sexually, it doesn't mean they are actually enjoying it as much. It's a social peer thing and so-called empowerment but women have a lot more to lose by being promiscuous.

I was discussing this with a friend of mine a few weeks ago. If this is a myth, then why are the freaky sections of craigslist (in almost every city in America) filled with posts from gay and straight men? Men routinely post graphic descriptions and proposals of a sexual nature. At best they are thinly veiled. Women, who participate in far smaller numbers to begin with, routinely preface their posts with I am not looking for sex.
I am just curious for ideas - if women have equal sex drives, why is this?
Women are more vulnerable, that's why. We have to worry about being assaulted, raped, drugged, harassed and stalked more than you do, simply because you are stronger than we are. We can get pregnant, you can't. Promiscuity is still routinely denounced in women, or at least used as a reason to hurt us. Saying no is laughed off as playing hard to get. What's that saying? You can't rape the willing. A woman who admits to liking sex is still frequently seen as willing ... for anything.
No matter how much she boils with lust, a smart woman keeps herself safe.
Yes men do consider other things than beauty but they always try to get it to work with the best looking girl in the room. Most of the men stand in the corner and can't get it to work but still want that girl. Men will often just settle for the best looking one they can get and then try to make it work. Those men who do hook up will often find her unbearable which of course usually happens after they sleep with her.
Its very different. Women look for personalities that look good. Men find out if that good looking women has a personality he can deal with.
Yes. This is not always in the best interests of the men. When you pass up the cute normal girl for the hot girl who turns out to be a headcase, you seldom get another shot at the cute girl. Believe me. Why not just let the hottest guys have the hottest girls and leave it at that. It just sucks when 40 guys surround the same girl and it looks silly as well. Especially when the other girls around are hardly chopped liver. Guys with NO shot of getting certain women will pass up girls they can have and just blow the whole thing. If I saw a guy drooling in that crowd of 40 I would think he was a loser and have nothing to do with him - been there, done that, stop begging dude you blew it.

Because they may have been raped or molested or just not into their partner.
I think that the point of the article is to show that not all women are men are the same but women do a lot of the same things that men do.
Yes, and men are usually the perpetrators there too. That doesn't mean we women should be more trusting of strange men, does it?
Men are still the victims most of the time.
I never said you should no more than a male should. I would not say the article deals with rape so much but just the fact that we tend to stereotype men and women way too much.
