I REALLY do not want to go. I am trying to come up with a reason that will not hurt my friend's feelings. The truth is I just do NOT want to be around her friends. I am just not up to it. Yet - I am to bring something.
Why must I spend this holiday with other people when I feel this way? I just want to be alone with my puppies and eat pizza. HELP! Thanks.
Tell her the truth that her friends might make you feel like crap with all the hoopla about how their lives are SO wonderful, when you have been grumpy since the pool man situation
Also, tell her, you will have a one on one with your friend later, when noone can mess with your head.
Tell her that you got your period and are suffering from severe cramps? Tell her that you're feeling sick and that you think it could be swine flu? Or tell her that one of your puppies is sick.
are you sure there is not some other reason you want to be alone on a day were it is customary to be around people who care about you?
maybe she is not your first choice?
If you must be alone, lie and tell her you have an offer that trumps hers, like you are going to a soup kitchen and serve turkey to homeless , handicapped, hospitalized, orphaned infants

She has good reason, you'd have to read her other threads.
