Well, I am taken, but i find that many women assume so because I'm not killing myself for their attention like other single guys are. They can see the satisfaction in my eyes of knowing that I have a beautiful GF that'll give me all of the jungle sex and hot food that I need without batting an eye.
I would assume that someone is taken for the same reason that a guy would assume that a pretty woman is taken. And if your personality is great, then just how could you NOT be taken? Granted, it's not the best logic to use, but it's quite an easy assumption to make. Also, especially when you work in the service industry, I would assume that you meet a lot of people, so the chances of you meeting someone is much higher than someone who may not simply due to increased visibility.
Funny how you started this thread. I met a really cute and personable, confident, and seemingly happy utility worker this week, and that was a HOT combo. He was nice (but that likely has to do with the fact that I'm the customer). We had a pleasant, easy conversation (like talking to an old friend) but I simply thought that he was taken due to assumption above.
Aside from directly asking him, which is a bit more bold and less of my style since I only talked to him for a few good minutes, I couldn't see if he has a wedding band on since he was wearing gloves...but I was definitely curious enough to have thought about it! Not sure if I would have done it any differently the next time.
I'm a guy and I am guilty of doing the same thing. When I see a somewhat attractive women around 30 I just assume she is married w/ kids. So if she thinks that about me, and I think that about her no wonder I'm single I never end up in a conversation with a woman haha! I always have negative thoughts when it comes to this stuff I not only assume she is taken, I assume she wouldn't be interested in me anyway. It's a problem I'm working on.
