Ditto, but note that the point of the OP's poll in this case is how much you read of the thread before you decide to REPLY. There are plenty of times when I scan through a thread to simply "read" but I don't even think of replying to a post until I've read everything and for the reasons I posted above. Cheers!

The issue or question should be clear and complete at the outset. The OP should contain all the information necessary to make a judgement. There should be no need for further "clarification".

Oh, come along now. With all due respect, that's plain silly. People post questions and people respond asking for more specifics in order to come up with a response they feel they'd be better qualified to make with a little more insight.

Ditto.

It's not silly at all. If you have a question, or want a comment, you should give all the necessary information first. To do otherwise is just silly.

A prime example of this would be - "My S/O doesn't like the soap I buy and always complains about it and I really like it."

At first that would sound like a preference and just buy two bars or something. But somewhere around page 3 or 4 we find out he breaks out in a rash when he uses it and her soap smells like lavender etc etc.

I have to agree. The original post is usually a true nature of the question/issue, all other "clarifications" sometimes come along with being ridiculed or made fun of or harshly judged by repliers and not as sincere and insightful as the original post. It usually goes along with "what I really meant to say or ask is..."

I disagree. Sometimes more information comes to light as other posters ask questions or whatnot.

I know you don't drive, but would it not be silly for someone to buy a car without having all of the information first? Same concept here.

Therefore, something like that really should be explained in the original post, so posters don't waste time in replying to something silly.
