First of all accomplishments are very important to people, gender doesn't make any difference. She worked her tail off for her degree, it shows she is able to complete something, it gives insight into personality type and interest. It is something she can be proud of.

I kinda agree with TVSG on this one. She better have her degree in something interesting otherwise I dont really want to hear about it.

Her degree better be in marine biology or palentology if she wants to impress with it. If its in communications, journalism, or something similar then it is not worth discussing in detail.

To show your interest in her whether you are interested in her degree or not, you may want to ask the following questions to lead into further discussions regarding subject matters that you may like.
1.What inspired you to get your degree in Journalism?
2. Do you have a career in your field?
3. Do you have any aspirations to get your grad or doctorate degree in Journalism?
4. What classes did you enjoy the most? Why?
5. What classes did you enjoy the least? Why?
