(a question for the ladies) Do you see it as a fact or a myth?

For instance, a woman from the 1930s-1960s compared to one from the 1990s-2000s. Of course there is a spread of personalities and characters but do you think the ladies of today have different attitudes and tastes ?

(this doesn't count for short-term fads though, im referring to long-term trends if y'all believe they exist)

No. I think women still generally desire robust and attractive men. The "tall, dark and handsome" image, whatever that image means for a particular individual.

However, I believe, what has changed, though, is women today don't feel admirable qualities in men are attainable anymore, since men have changed so much. There's quantity with little to no quality, which is unfortunate...

Absolutely. My mother thinks it's disgraceful to have money problems if one has a boyfriend. If I had a dollar for everytime she asked why my SO didn't pay a bill I was struggling with, I could have paid the bills. My comeback to her was always the same, "He didn't make the bill it's not his responsibility to pay the bill. He isn't in my life to pay my bills." Then she'd say "A real man would pay it anway".

In her day, men paid their girlfriends bills, today more women pay their own bills. (whether their mothers like it or not.)

Ok so there's no doubt that the "tall, dark, handsome" thing hasn't changed, but what about other than that?

I've met a few grandmothers like that. They didnt want to know much more about me than if I could provide.

I dont think being able to provide, strength, integrity, and charm ever go out of style.

I'm sure it has changed.

Ages ago, I think a woman would have loved if a man had 20 hogs and 20 acres.

Not so much today.

Now its a Lexus and a loft........

I think that most women today want the same things in a man that women wanted in men several decades ago, for the most part. They want a man who is honest, decent, confident, a good provider, etc. (Although, many women nowadays do not expect a man to be the sole provider.) Yes, times have changed, but, generally, I think people will always seek out mates with the same basic virtues. They may not find 'em, but they'll seek 'em!

Gee, after reading Chow's post, I'm thinking I'm revealing a generation gap here. LOL! I admit it - I'm old fashioned.

Yes, men THEN only needed to have a p*nis and not be flat broke. Now those guys who are left on the shelf proclaim that all women are gold-diggers. Of course, the REAL nice blokes would have gotten themselves a decent woman ..:P
