well, i notice that women i'm involved with have a tendency to "give" me something i don't really want (or care about), and then use that as a justification to try and "take" something that requires a big compromise on my part.
when i don't go along with the program, it causes the problem you mention, where she tells me she feels like she's always "giving." my friends go through the same thing, so it isn't just me. in any case, i think communication is key. Without that, "doing nice things for one another" suddenly becomes a struggle.
