That's weird, Chessie, I had hiccups too, yesterday, like an hour after you had yours...I eat a teaspoon full of sugar. Always cures mine.

I've done the paper bag thing and the drink water upside down, and those remedies never helped me. But each to his own, I guess.

I've had a lime wedge with bitters, and that didn't work, but drinking a small glass of about half lime juice, half bitters did. That's the only time anything worked for me.

I get hiccups quite a bit, and the ones from eating too quickly are the worst! Ugh, I hate that feeling. I most frequently get them from suddenly being cold, such as leaving my warm office building and stepping into the winter air. HRRRK!

Luckily, I've learned how to isolate that part of my diaphragm and relax it. I have to be standing still at the time, though, so if I have hiccups in the car or while walking around, I'm doomed. I'll get hiccups several times a day in the winter (once or twice a day on average, year-round), but they are usually limited to just one or two.

That must be a pain! I hate hiccups. It's kind of funny for the first few, then you're like, Okay, I'm done with this now.

I have a remedy for hiccoughs that works always for me.

Hold your ears and nose closed at the same time, drink (best with a straw or a friend to hold a glass).

Hiccoughs are a result of presure getting behind a valve in the diaphragm, so you have to change the pressure. If I can't get to water, I block my ears and nose and swallow a bunch of times - saliva even, sometimes air - just anything to get the pressure change.

I either just belch or barf and that takes care of them.

I have heard that being scared works. I did try it on my son one time, and it worked for him.

Ha, yeah, I've heard that too. I hate being scared like that, though. If someone did it to me, I'd probably punch them in the nose.

Well, next time you get hiccups just have Yankee post to you and tell you you're banned and see if that works.
