I knew someone once who was a marriage counselor and he told me that by the time the couple went to him the marriage was already in such bad shape that his job was almost impossible. The marriage counselor would have preferred that the couples would have come to him when their marriage was still basically strong but needed some fine tuning.
Have you been to a marriage counselor and would you consider going to one if your marriage was basically good? Or would you wait until there was serious problems?
Although I am almost the perfect well adjusted husband that makes other wifes envious, my wife sure could use some counseling. I think I've made her a little crazy over the years and the Meds don't work like they used to.
Any woman who can get her SO into voluntary counseling without having a court order is doing pretty good with her man.

You know, that reminds me. Every Spring, we get a flurry of calls from Air Conditioning services wanting to come in and perform a checkup on our HVAC system. What they really do, however, is root around, look for problems, and then recommend major repairs.

Personally, I think there's nothing a marriage counselor can do that old-fashioned common sense and consideration can't.
