yes, and benefitting off the herd! that's not fair!
What's not fair???If you believe in vaccines so much and your vaccinated ,then you've nothing to worry about., or is it that you've taken the risk of vaccinating, and you're mad that others would rather not take that risk..We all have choices and we all have the right to make those choices whether you agree with them or not...
purehuman, it would be nice if you researched the people who write these things. Dr. Rebecca Carley has had her medical license revoked because she has a mental disability that includes delusions
The Committee's majority determined that the Respondent suffers from a delusional disorder that impairs the Respondent's ability to practice medicine. The Committee found further that the Respondent’s impairment involves a rigid thinking pattern that extends to her professional life and renders her incapable to exercise open-minded judgement required to evaluate and diagnose medical disorders and arrive at appropriate conclusions regarding optimal therapy. The ARB concludes that the Respondent's impairment makes her unfit for medical practice and could place patients at risk. We conclude further that the Respondent fails to acknowledge her impairment or the need to obtain treatment. We see no alternative means to protect the public other then revoking the Respondent's License.
This blog has some excerpts from the hearing itself.
Not at all, but it that link the "whole" truth, or some truth blown all out of proportion?
I'm old enough to remember the abject terror that polio wrought on our society. I didn't recognize it at the time, but parents were scared senseless of this, as at the time many ended up in an iron lung for life. Vaccines have eliminated that threat, savings hundreds of thousands of lives, and preventing the life long crippling of those that didn't die.
Smallpox killed an estimated 5 million people, how many lives has the vaccine saved since the vaccine was developed? Yes a small percentage (0.01%) develop mostly non-life threatening reactions, vs. a much higher death rate from the disease. In the 1800 an average of 400,000 Europeans died of smallpox every single year.
Yes, there are horror stories, some factual, some highly exaggerated, and some fabricated like the recent hoax that was just disclosed solely for money.
Driving a car is very dangerous, kills thousands every single year, yet we way the risk, practice preventive measures (seat belts, etc.) and make decisions based on reason, not hysteria.
Of course without vaccines, we would not be as concerned with global warming, greenhouse gasses, pollution, overpopulation, food shortages, and many other negatives of an over populated world.
In 1967 the World Health Organization (WHO) started a worldwide campaign to eradicate smallpox. This goal was accomplished in 10 years due in a large part to massive vaccination efforts. The last endemic case of smallpox occurred in Somalia in 1977. On May 8, 1980, the World Health Assembly declared the world free of smallpox.
The United States stopped vaccinating the general population in 1972, but continued to vaccinate military personnel. It was recommended that vaccination of military personnel stop in 1986, and vaccination was officially stopped in military recruits in 1990.
Those who refuse to allow their children to be vaccinated put other people's babies too young to be vaccinated in danger. It's mostly the babies with immature respiratory systems who die of whooping cough (as well as fagile elderly, of course). The rate of whooping cough has risen alarmingly in recent years after being rare after widespread immunization was begun. Those spreading the lies should be held responsible.
This is an example of the danger in giving a fairy tale any validity as it does in fact endanger others. Locally there has been an sharp increase in pertussis (whooping cough). Tell a child they are sick because your fairy tale has some sill aversion to science. But they are not likely to hear you because they are too busy coughing, gasping for breath and vomiting.
Vaccines should be under that umbrella. People who endanger their children's lives due to their religious beliefs should be committed to the looney bin. Vaccines do help prevent many diseases. Case in point-meningitis. The vaccine prevents 90% of people from getting the disease. Diptheria was once one of the most common causes of death in children. Now it is very rare due to vaccinations.

On the flip side, I wonder if those against vaccinations would argue that a parent with such a sickly baby should being the ones taking precautions against virus infections.
