Hi, This is why should you never get under a tree during a lightning storm.

News, A 50-year-old pastor from a church here in San Antonio was killed Tuesday afternoon after he was hit by a bolt of lightning while hiking with his two teenage sons, authorities told News 4 WOAI.

Useful to ready yourself for potential difficulties by thinking of what you personally (and for your family/children/elders) would do in various challenging circumstances.

With no cover but trees, best to get as far AWAY from them as possible, and squat on the ground, both making yourself the smallest possible target and giving yourself the smallest possible contact with the ground, thus the worst possible *circuit* for the lightning to utilize.

Ideally, best to get as far indoors as possible, away from edges/windows (remember lightning's *thing* IS to TRAVEL--FAST!), NOT on land-line-connected phone (can also kill) nor in-circuit contact with metal plumbing (taking bath/shower, etc.).

Thinking ahead, you will more likely be safe than sorry, survivor rather than statistic....... There ARE times when that choice IS YOURS!

Least nice to know lightning CAN do some GOOD things...and also be used by God for whatever purpose He chooses. Condolences to the family, in any case.
