I always live as if the day is my last day on earth. This way I do not have any regrets, because I try to do it right the first time. And if I see a mistake I try to correct it immediately.
With just one day, I think that I would do exactly the same thing that I would do every other day. If I had a week, I would start cleaning out drawers and cabinets so no one else would have to do it.
Never would I call up anyone and say, "This is my last day and I wanted to tell you good bye." I certainly would not want to see or hear pity or sorrow on my last day.
Well, I think three things come to my mind. First, as Macrina said, I would probably spend some time repenting and making sure my heart was as right as possible before I entered eternity, secondly I would probably try to share the gospel as much as possible with people that day, and thirdly, I would tell my friends and loved ones how much I love them and anything else that I felt was important that I would like to say to them.
Of course, we usually don't know when our last day will be, but my husband faced a situation that has some elements of that about 2 years ago when he had quadruple bypass heart surgery. He was considered high risk and so going in, we both had some trepidation about whether he would live through the surgery. (Thankfully, he did! But I can tell you that he did make out a will and we both said everything that was on our hearts to each other before he went into surgery.)
First thing I would do is come here and say goodbye to everyone, so you wouldn't wonder where I wasThen I would retreat to my quiet place and praise God for the life he has given me here and thank him for lessons learned and ask for his forgiveness for my sins..The rest of the day would be spent talking to the family and preparing them for life without me..Then I would go back to my private place and say "Lord, thank you for giving me time to make things right..I am ready" Then He will take my hand and lead me home
First, I'd go over to my mom's and try to reassure her that she WILL be seeing me in Heaven despite what some people have been telling her...
Then, I'd take all my books over to my sister who loves to read as much as I do
I'd give my Mustang to my brother who is a Ford fanatic and I'd try one more time to convince my little brother that drugs are destroying his life.
Then, I'd drive out to Folly Beach and go surfing and witness to the surfer crowd while there
Then, I'd go to Ye Olde Fashioned Ice Cream Shoppe and have a banana split with 3 scoops of chocolate ice cream covered in hot fudge with chocolate flavored whip cream on top and LOTS of cherries!!
Finally, I'd fly down to Key West with my partner and sit on the bench where she proposed to me and watch the sun sink into the ocean.
