VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis on Friday cleared Pope John Paul II for sainthood, approving a miracle attributed to his intercession and setting up a remarkable dual canonization along with another beloved pope, John XXIII.

In a major demonstration of his papal authority, Francis decided to make John XXIII a saint even though the Vatican hasn’t confirmed a second miracle attributed to his intercession. The Vatican said Francis had the power to dispense with the normal saint-making procedures to canonize John on his own merits.

What a disgrace. That's what the public ignores: Pope Francis, so "progressive", being involved in the canonization of a Pope, John Paul II, who loved being like a rock star but forgot to worry about the pedophile priests and coddled a Cardinal (Law) who enabled priest pedophiles.

Polish Catholics need to understand that just because John Paul II stood up to the Communists in his own country, he actively fought against the just movements to liberate the poor in South America, and he did not protect children against abusive priests. A disgrace. He just loved traveling all over the world being adored and would not step down as Pope for egotistical reasons even when he was clearly unable to function. Not a very humble man, or compassionate to the poor in South America or victims of priest abusers.

Although disappointed in his tenure when it came to addressing problems in the church, I admired JPII's personal courage and determination.

And my Catholicism is far enough back in my rear view mirror that the bestowal of sainthood means next to nothing to me. So, I don't mind Frankie skipping a step in the process if he wants to bring John XXIII into Valhalla as well. Although young during his tenure as pope, I recall liking John's face. It was open and friendly, like the current pope's and JPII's.

For non believers, arguing the merits of some candidate's sainthood is akin to arguing who was the best captain of the Enterprise, or if Superman could beat The Flash in a race.

For believers it is like arguing the merits of candidates for sports Halls of Fame.

Except for a lot of believers , we wonder if they are even playing the same sport.

I remember seeing a clip of Jope JP II kissing the Koran. The doctrine of Islam is antichristian and antiSimetical to the point that Muhammad actually committed genocide against the Jews, and spewed all kinds of hatred for all Christians and Jews, and teaches that they are all evil and can't be trusted. And the Koran teaches that the NT can't be trusted and for any Muslim to believe in the Bible is to be killed outright. For the Pope to actually openly in the public kiss the Koran is just weird and creepy. The man shows absolute ignorance, or whatever....

Actually Islam holds the Bible to be the inspired word of God, but that additions and distortions by humans had provided errors. The Qur'an was Mohammed's corrections of these errors. Plenty of the Bible's star characters...Abraham, Jacob, King David, Issac and Ismael.....all appear in Mohammed's book as well. There is an entire school of Islamic scholars who argue that some of the characters in the Bible were actually Mohammed in different identities.

Where is the passage in the Koran which instructs people to kill Bible believers?

There are all kinds of hate spewing for all people of the Bible. Muhammad killed Jews and Christians for not converting to Islam. Muhammad killed thousands of people based on their religious faiths. Allah is the same God as YHWH. You could probably consider Islam to be just another sect of the Bible. Muhammad just borrows the same hatred and terrorism of YHWH, and turns it against people of the Bible. Islam is a direct result of the Bible. Allah and YHWH is identical Gods turned against each other.

You did not answer my question. Where in the Koran is the passage you claim exists which instructs death for Bible believers?

Either it is there or it is not. And if it is not there, then you should admit that this was something you invented and falsely attributed to the Koran.
