Here's the problem with believing in an afterlife: logically, it could just as easily be Your Worst Nightmare as it could be The Happiest Place Imaginable.

Religions like Zoroastrianism, Christianity, and Islam figured this out a long time ago. First, lure people into the religion with the idea of Heaven. Then, once they believe in an afterlife with all of their heart, tell them that the afterlife will be eternal torture if they don't obey. Also tell them they will suffer eternal torment if they question the religion in the first place. Then you own them.

It's a great business model. And not only is it legal, it is tax-free and protected by the U.S. constitution. Better yet, no one can question the ethics of the business, since morality comes from the religion alone.

One can believe in God or whatever their Diety is without being part of a formal man made Religion so I don't understand what the issue is.

I don't participate in things like organized crime. Nonetheless I think it is a bad thing.

You're an amazing judge of character. You've just now condemned every pastor and clergyman from a number of different religions. You are claiming to know the character of every one of us, and know that we are a bunch of conniving shysters.

I think part of what makes life great is that it's finite. I've never seen the appeal of eternal life.... Seems like it would get repetitive and boring after 1,000 years or so. I get bored in church after 10 minutes or so. I couldn't imagine years of constant worship. I think this thought pattern was one of the main reason behind my deconversion from christianity. Heaven sounds like hell, IMO.

Also, who would want to be worshipped forever and ever?

Anyone who is selling a product for which there is no evidence is a fraud. Period.

What exactly does organized crime have to do with anything?

Does anyone ever take you seriously with the confusing statements you make?
