I'm not sure I would buy that the parents would automatically lose custody of their child from this incident if CPS was involved. We don't know all the facts of the case, but you make it sound like the father purposely sought out a police chief who would be more tolerable and forgiving of the incident because he was into child porn. If it was your son, what would you do? Disown him immediately forever? If the Duggars wanted to cover it up, why would they go to the police at all?
I find that most people have skeletons in their closet including a lot of the self-righteous people who just have so much venom towards public Christian families. The Duggers failed God. I failed God. My pastor used to be a drug addict, and he failed God. I've learned the hard way not to put too much trust in men especially Christian celebrities.
Well I'm glad that we have a God who gives second chances even to people who do awful things like Josh.
I also find it pretty hypocritical that we have a media that has already savagely gone after the Duggar story in only 24 hours since the news broke. Yet you have a man like Bill Cosby who has most likely drugged and raped countless women, and the media pretty much gives him a free pass. It's not even a story anymore.

The beauty of the Gospel of Christ is that even he was forgiven for what he did. As can be anyone else that comes to Christ. Even homosexuals, as you mentioned.
What I find even more repulsive is adult priests molesting little boys and girls and thinking they can get away with it.

You find priest molestations more repulsive than having molestations occur repeatedly in your own home by an older family member, and not being able to find safe refuge from your molester? No it was reported to a family friend who was a police officer (and convicted kiddie porn viewer) and he got a "stern talking to" but no official report was filed.
This is an issue because on numerous different occasions this was brushed under the rug. All the while this holier than thou family are spreading lies about gay molesting children to get laws passed, when the molester was in their own home and they did nothing about it.

I don't get any sense of real sincere concern for the victims either. No one seems interested in hearing their side of the story and how it has affected their lives. It's all about how the Duggars are hypocrites.
