Went to Catholic school for 7 years.

Made me a confirmed atheist. In grade 12, had a 45 minute discussion with the priest. The premise??

Either Jesus was a bastard, or Mary committed adultery. The end result was the priest told me I just had to have faith.

I prefer reason and evidence.

Actually they all do, or at least should.

It seems to me that good and bad have an element of logic attached to them

God Bless you,

There is always some form of logic to human thought. It just happens that the kind employed by most religions is a "psycho-"logic.

Deities mating with humans; talking snakes; burning bushes; petulant gods with the manners & morals of a spoiled child (thanks, Heinlein) committing genocide against entire civilizations; all humankind bearing the blame for the alleged misdeeds of two 'originals'.

Just a couple examples. Believe what you wish, but don't attempt to portray it as 'logical'.

Yep.

Some people still think the words "gospel" and "truth" are synonyms.

There is a measure of faith that is blind, and takes what ever said and holds to it for the logic it provides, particularly if there is a large group that embrace it, be it atheist or some religion believing there is a God.
Nothing is gained but the stroking of the ego.

Mental acknowledgment of some faith in God, is not a relationship ,but many are given the illusion that some words spoken, or one time act of religious rite, accomplish every thing.
They do not .
The reason many fall away is because they did not from the heart, choose to go any deeper than surface acknowledgment.
Jesus called for repentance, not come as you are.
Jesus said ," Blessed are they that do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for that shall be filled."
Repentance is turning from self govern, to God's govern.
But with out receiving the Holy Spirit Jesus provides ,one cannot have God's govern .
Doing good deeds on one's own govern, even miracles in Jesus name, does not certify ones relationship with God. Matthew 7;21,22,23, one is yet in rebellion.
In the tutelage of the Holy Spirit, is a relationship built , one can have fellowship with God .

The need for the priest hood died when Jesus died on the cross , the vail of the temple was torn in half, top to bottom by God .

All born again believers are a priest per-say, Jesus is our Hi priest .
Jesus directly told the disciples NOT to be called Rabbi, (teacher) Master ,or Father.
But these things the church ignored, and defied Jesus own words.
This failure has been one of the Greatest failures of Christianity, not just the catholic church.

Men presuming to teach in God's place, and not teaching the relationship Jesus provides in the Holy Spirit because they them selves do not know it, are in deed the false teacher and false prophets the will face judgment for their lies and promoting a continued deception they choose to embrace taught by their piers.

At the judgment seat Jesus will alone determine those in which His Lordship was exercised.

Truth is found in the walk with God ,not in men's words alone .
Jesus did speak in parables while in the general public, and then clarified later for the disciples ,because they did not have the Holy Spirit in them yet to provide the deeper understanding .
At least some of them had the intellect to ask Him, rather then coming up with their own conclusions.
This inside information made the relationship exclusive.
You atheists will never comprehend the depth of the gospel, so long as you are on the out side.
Much like you, that cannot comprehend those with a sixth sense.

Allow me to elucidate this for you.

Your lack of understanding [due to the multiplicity of forms of authorship used in the bible] is the very reason God choose One man to always be THEE Leader in the Old Testament; and just one "chosen people." Exodus 6:7

This then was again the free Choice of Christ [Savior] in the New Testament, when he too chose freely just "One Chosen People, " which he termed "MY CHURCH" Mt. 16:18 [singular]

In both instances God was trying to lead and to simply life's mystery: WHY does man exist [the answer in in Isaiah 43: verses 7 & 21] if your interested? But a secondary reason for our existence is so man too can freely choose to merit their salvation; thereby accomplishing for eternity what Isaiah 43: 7 & 21 teaches us.

The variety of differing forms used in the Bible [ALL Inspired by God 2nd. Timothy 3:16-17] has to do with God permitting each Bible author to use hias own style and words to convey the exact message God wanted to be shared with us.

2nd. Peter 3: 14-17 “Therefore, beloved, since you wait for these, be zealous to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. And count the forbearance of our Lord as salvation. So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, beware lest you be carried away with the error of lawless men and lose your own stability

2nd. Peter 1: 16-21 “You will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by the impulse of man, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”

God choose One Chosen people &

God choose One Chosen' Church/people

in order to direct and make simpler that task of finding His Truth; always singular per defiend issue; easier and nearly assured. Nearly, but not quite

God Bless you,

Patrick

No, Patrick. It's a biblical Kool-Aid thing. Ya gotta swallow it and manage to keep it down.

I couldn't.

Have a nice day yourself.
