32% of Americans Think the Syrian Crisis is Part of ‘End Times’ (church, atheist)

As to this being part of the Official End-Times Scenario, we'll just have to see, now won't we? When it resolves itself to the degree that it will, and only if it does, the world will not all be dead. Just minus a bunch of religious fundamentalist hate-filled in-fighters with an indoctrinated hostility from their childhood schooling. So sad!
And it's all just pandering to the Armageddonist hopefuls! They expect The Big Golden Bus to pick 'em up in front of their local high school arena.
Well OK: Just don't be late, guys, lest you miss dat-dehr Bus!

The irony and sadness is that these folk should be rejoicing yet they are fearful and get busy a preachin' just so they score brownie points not to be left behind.
One of these days some religious group will identify an event as a sign of the "middle times", as in an indication that we are half way between the beginning and the end times.
Then I will feel that I have learned something.
By always identifying some disorderly phenomena as "end times" followed by the times not ending, a small credibility problem emerges.
The woosayers are dying off and probably the only thing that would turn most of the nation off religion quickly would be a huge catastrophe like say a nuke war or bio breakout of a plague. The survivors would then realise, there is no one protecting them and no favours.
That said, the religious nuts were quick to turn 9-11 into a judgement from gawd so who knows how they may react? Back then with shrub2.0 in charge, the one TBN clown said gawd removed his covering from the USA to teach the folk a lesson. Not sure how big a part the ghey issue was but these wizards of the airwaves are good at connecting non existent dots for the gullible and fearful.
LifeWay Ministries, who directed the poll, can hardly be considered neutral on the subject. Although the article linked does show numbers that imply that the poll was conducted across a spectrum of Americans (across various regions, age groups, etc.) it doesn't specify whether they culled their ~1,000 poll participants from church membership bulletins, the phonebook, or anything.
I don't doubt that there are a distressing number of Americans who believe in fantasy apocalyptic scenarios, but I doubt the numbers in this poll.
