Has the public discourse really sunk to the level that a senior elected official spews this kind of dribble?

Kentucky Gov. Bevin: It might take bloodshed to save religious, conservative values | Lexington Herald-Leader
“I want us to be able to fight ideologically, mentally, spiritually, economically, so that we don’t have to do it physically,” Bevin said during an impassioned speech at the Value Voters Conference in Washington D.C. Saturday. “But that may, in fact, be the case.”
Value Voters Conference? I wonder if David Duke was there? This kind of nod and wink to violence is exactly the same road some other prominent candidates for office are promulgating, and frankly, it is scary. And it is exactly the same path radical Islamist used and are using to prod followers to commit the atrocities that they are.

Religious nutcases, get the heck out of us severally normal people's lives. Go back to your caves where you got your revelations. The more radical your pronouncements, the more the general population is tuning you out.

But we WILL keep an eye on you, as you are just dangerous.

Trump was there and gave a speech. It was a 10 on the pandering scale. He said what they wanted to hear. He quoted the Bible and praised Phyllis Schaffly so much one would think they had been BFF. I was a little surprised he didn't have an altar call and a table in the back of room for the NRA. Interestingly, the room was not full when he spoke

Yes. It has sunk to that level. The FFRF bullies have taken it to this level. This is less about Christianity and more about our Constitutional Rights of every religion. The Founding Fathers fought for it, and it's why we have the 2nd Amendment.

The schoolyard bully probably thinks the teacher is a bully for stopping the bullying.

Get over it. The evangelical Christian monopoly is over. The rest of us aren't going to sit down and take it.

Vizio, the FFRF never, ever at any time even suggests violence of any sort. Ever.

This is a religious cult (yours) lashing out because more and more people see through the fairy tales and myths it is based on, and the horrible results of adherents acting out because of those myths. How in the name of whatever you consider holy can you not condemn the Governors words?

How, Vizio? HOW? Are you any better than the muslims who won't condemn their radicals? Well, are you?

Words have consequences.

They are furthering the anti-religious sentiment. I believe that Christians will be violently persecuted at some point because of that.

Did anyone in leadership in any church make the statement that we should do violence? Does the governor represent a church?

No, but the governor was clearly pandering to evangelical voters.

Nah...I don't believe in fighting persecution with violence. It's just not my thing.
