Suddenly, reality is making an appearance in the lives of many young evangelicals..

From the article...

Many see the achieving their biggest goals, like curbing abortion rights and advancing religious liberties. But they are sensitive to other issues. Many feel independent, or socially homeless. There is a fight for what the term ‘evangelical’ even means, and they are living it.

And the struggle is not just with community leaders, but also within their religious communities.

The six young evangelicals featured here, all deeply involved in their churches, offer the textured sound of the rising evangelical voice in America, one that is often drowned out by white elders. The interviews and quotations from submissions have been lightly edited and condensed for clarity.

Didn't read the whole piece but it's encouraging. Unlike the older generation of Christian fundies, these young people seem to possess empathy and the ability to think rationally. At least, more rationally than their parents.

We goddless bastards have nothing to say to them; they won't listen to us. The question now is whether they ask questions, and more questions or whether they Obey.
Obey, which is more important than loving God, reading your Bible and going to Church. If they ask questions, will they be satisfied with the answers? If the hints of repeal of certain rights under Trump is what they think God wants, then Forgiveness is not a problem.

They'll grow out of it with age and money.

That seems to work both ways. Years of wondering and having enough to live on and not be desperate, then you have time to to think about the Questions.

I don't mean with a growing societal knowledge-base and a prosperous society around them, I mean literally and personally only their own baises like age and money/taxes/inheritance. A literal sucker is born every minute, after all. And the wise succumb to aging.

Plus, any false religion might tell their followers that their mistakes are forgiven and washed clean and nothing is due from them. That might attract a lot of busy bees.

Despite what they typically say, most evangelical extremists put themselves above God, as though they are only answerable to themselves. God is essentially left behind; more of a word to throw around than a presence and force to reckon with.

They act as though they are invincible, and nothing can touch them. I doubt any of them worry about God and his judgement. To them, all of God's wrath will fall on others; anyone who thinks differently from them.

I wonder. Maybe I'm giving humanity too much credit, but I have to believe that people do think past the easy answers. I could be wrong. Most people I talk to don't even want to spend time on thinking. They just want to get on with Just Doing Stuff.

Humanity can get tons of credit! It's genetics and education where we have to be careful!

Yes, comfort is what they are fine with, not "truth." Most people I know of are also averse to thinking, seeing it as arduous and often cheap work, they want to DO things that feel comfortable (like either no high stakes [not deadly nor hurtful] or the opposite: addicting) and to think very little.

It's up to those who know the truth to push the boundaries a little and free them by making them a bit uncomfortable each time they are growing up so that they get used to testable reality and can still laugh and feel joy without it being what religion offers which is hypnotized psychosis and imagination-based dissociation.

There are those who are understanding that the organized church is controlling and needs to use fear to maintain that control.

So while talking our conversion will be ignored for the most part, like any good discussion, it may take months or years before it takes root.
