For those who wonder, we are forbidden to fast to the extent it endangers our health. Because of my age and poor health I am not able to do a full fast. I usually have to take some fluids and sometimes a small snack if I begin to feel dizzy. My intent is to do a full fast but this old body does not always cooperate.

I wondered about that. I seem to recall it coming later in the summer in other years? (Not exactly an expert on these things.)

For the curious this is how I keep track of the prayer times. The program pops up for the Athan (Call to Prayer) about 10 minutes before each prayer time.

We use the Hijr Calender. It is 11 days shorter than the Gregorian Calender. Each Islamic Month starts 11 days sooner each year. Next year Ramadan will begin on June 17, Year after that it will begin on June 6 etc.

I have quite a bit of fennel coming up and tring to decide what I can do with it besides put it in salads.

As for what we are doing for Ramadan:

Just the required fasting to the best of my ability and Reading one Juz of the Qur'an daily.

Just the 2 of us and no one to celebrate with.
