OMG. They are so ridiculous.

First of all, modern yoga is obviously secular.

Secondly, this country was founded on freedom FROM religion.

I would like to have a break from Christianity poisoning absolutely everything.

If one religion is going to be respected, all should be.

Why are Christians so scared of other religions?

If the body is the 'temple of the holy spirit', and yoga helps the body, then it'd be a physical way to benefit the spiritual.

Beyond that, we don't need to give a rat's hiney what the naysayers say. They're usually the biggest slobs around anyway, with fatty dysfunctional brains.

My first wife practiced Hatha yoga which seemed to emphasize stretching exercises to extend flexibility and build strength while controlling respiration.

I didn't mind watching now and again.

The group I grew up in thought it caused demons. The lady who taught the yoga class I went to had a wooden Jesus statue in the studio. I hate downward dog. It always makes me nauseous.

You meant, prudes and bigots?

Yoga is a spiritual tradition the purpose of which is liberation from suffering. What most in the West consider Yoga is isolated portions of the system - physical poses (Asana), breathwork (Pranayama) and concentration (Dharana) - and they can be practiced just for the secular benefits. The preceding and following limbs are hard to not consider spiritual.

Yes. Just as it is possible to practice some kinds of martial arts without any reference to the religio-spiritual/cultural aspects.

Christians stay away from the practice of yoga because of the idolatry implication, and the attraction of demonic spirit who interfere with the exercise ............ So if atheist engage than they should not look to any god but their muscles ........... Where in transcendental meditation does have demonic spirit interfering and can be a harm to the organs, and they say 48% risk to health
