I guess I don't even understand why a "loving God" would ship us off to Hell just because we questioned his existence.

As for the bold:
Soooo no free will???

As for the underlined:
I find if very interesting indeed, that education is often seen as a threat to christianity.

Because He is a jealous God. Not only that, He provided a way and its up to us to accept it. We don't do that, we are held accountable for our sins on judgment day, whatever they may be.

Atheism as we know it today is a rather recent fad anyways. Sure there have always been non believers, but it wasn't until this generation (people born after 1980) that it has been anything close to a majority.

We have free will before death, but not after.

Our colleges and universities today are indoctrinating our young people to not believe. I heard on the radio that 75% of children born after 1980 raised in Christian homes become atheist within one year after going off to a secular college. Plus, in a secular college environment you are looked on as ignorant, backwards, and anti-intellectual if you beleve in God. It wasn't always this way.

He's jealous? That doesn't seem like a very admirable trait. I figured God's ego would be stronger than that.

And you said that atheism is possibly close to a majority in the younger generation. I don't think that's the case at all. I would bet that at least 80% of people under 30 believe in a god of some kind. (Of course, maybe it's not the "right" God, according to some.)

Jealousy is not considered a good trait. I thought your God was perfect.

Atheism is not a fad. It is the results of people becoming educated enough to sort fact from fiction, and it ain't gonna go away.

Maybe not, but is likely the majority of the younger generation attending college or with college degrees. Since this forum is comprised of mostly college-aged people and recent graduates, that would explain why there is such a high atheist presence here. Some regain faith however after leaving the highly anti-religion college environment. That happened to me as well as a friend of mine. He went off to college, lost his faith, but regained it a few years after graduation. I was agnostic during college as I didn't want to go all the way and deny the existence of a higher power, but I really found it hard to believe in the Christian God. I thought I was "too smart" for that childish stuff. Then, last spring, God opened my eyes and I saw the Light.

I'm in college (and should be studying for my finals right now), and I can tell you from a first hand experience that this has not at all been my experience. I consider my self to be rather sociable, i have a lot of friends, only one that i know of is also an atheist. I would say that more people "stray from the path" in college, but i think that's because there excited about sleeping in on sundays. Also some of my smartest friends are also members of one of the many christain student groups here on campus, and in no way see them as ignorant or bacward because of their beliefs.

On the note of student organizations i cant even begin to count all the religious organizations(christainity, muslim, jewish, etc), and there is not a single atheist or secular student organization.

If any thing the interaction i have with religion now are very similar to the ones i had in high school or middle school; its still being pushed on me whether or not i want to hear it.
