I have done door-to-door evangelism before...and generally I wouldn't knock on a door with a "no soliciting" sign. Technically, it's not "soliciting" to offer to give out information for free...but it's not going to win many converts, either.

On the other hand, if you've got a sign that says "no prosletyzing" and they still knocked? They deserved it.

When I was a JW I would never knock at a door with a sticker. Some of my friends would, but if they were hoping to convert or save the occupants, I believed not respecting their wishes would have a very negative effect on their view of our faith and our work.

As far as I was concerned, the sticker was their answer in writing to God and was up to him to judge.
