A fool is one who goes on trusting; a fool is one who goes on trusting against all his experience. You deceive him, and he trusts you; and you deceive him again, and he trusts you; and you deceive him again, and he trusts you. Then you will say that he is a fool, he does not learn. His trust is tremendous; his trust is so pure that nobody can corrupt it.

Be a fool in the Taoist sense, in the Zen sense. Don´t try to create a wall of knowledge around you. Whatsoever experience comes to you, let it happen, and then go on dropping it. Go on cleaning your mind continuously; go on dying to the past so you remain in the present, herenow, as if just born, just a babe.

In the beginning it is going to be very difficult. The world will start taking advantage of you...let them. They are poor fellows. Even if you are cheated and deceived and robbed, let it happen, because that which is really yours cannot be robbed from you, that which is really yours nobody can steal from you.

And each time you don´t allow situations to corrupt you, that opportunity will become an integration inside. Your soul will become more crystallized.
-OSHO-

A fool acts out of ignorance; he does not know enough to seek advice, nor have the common sense to take it were it given to him. An intelligent person can sometimes act foolishly by mistake - indeed, some of the smartest people do the most stupid things! - but their mistakes are generally errors of omission rather than of judgment. The wise are not immune to error, but they rarely are mistaken in their judgment; and, therefore, not often taken for a fool.

There is a difference between the fool and the idiot.
You are speaking about an idiot and not about the fool. This is a different kind of fool. This is the fool that has regained his innocence and is not surrounded and defended by walls of knowledge that prevent him from acting in the moment, spontaneously, naturally .... without premeditation and guile. This is the open and trusting being that is perceived as stupid by the f _ _ _ _ _ up standards of the blind and ignorant idiots .... (which includes most everyone).
"But the fool on the hill sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head see the world spinning round.
He never listens to them,
He knows that they're the fools ..."

This is a fool in the Zen or Taoist sense which is quite different from the commonly accepted perception of the fool.
Check out The Fool of the Tarot. If you find a good interpretation of it you'll see the relationship between what OSHO is saying and The Fool that i'm speaking of ..... or not.

Glad to see that about the fool in the Tarot. I was thinking that upon reading your first post.
Going all the way from the Fool to the World, only to return to the Fool again.

An idiot is a mental defective; one who cannot see the obvious or comprehend it. A fool is one who can see and comprehend what is seen; but nevertheless refuses to acknowledge it.

Most men are fools - and foolishly happy with themselves as well. The philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer once observed that the greater the intellect, the greater the tendency to solitude; and thus to become wise is to become isolated in a world filled with fools. (Schopenhauer was a lonely man.) It is the bane of every wise man that no one ever listens to him - his is the voice crying in the wilderness. Perhaps that is why the wise rarely say anything; they are wise enough, at least, not to waste their breath.

Sounds to me that he is just trying to convince himself on how wise he thinks he is. If he is wise and alone, then that is how all wise men must be or tend to be.
