Its always darkly amusing when a Christian brings up Stalin's crimes, because I have to ask, where are his victims now? If Christians are correct, then large numbers of Stalin's victims are now writhing in hell. So we are supposed to despise Stalin for murder, yet love "god" for tormenting them unceasingly.
The numbers are from 1917 onwards. The are a number of statistics on the pure atheistic regimes of communism. Google it, even google democide, an erae not covered by terms like genocide. My problem is when a blanket statement is made about everything within a catagory. While I don't support anything the major realms of christendom has been involved with, not every thing Christian has their view of things, not even their own holy book. Much of their holy book has your exact views, tho I'm sure that would be considered repugnant your view. They don't even have the power and influence they once wielded against mankind anyway. These guys you folks are debating with are simply a handful. They use to be a dime a dozen. Their time is short lived. It's not that tough to Google the statistics. And before you say, it's the extreme part of atheism that did those things, it's not representative of today's modern atheist, well then you'll understand what I'm talking about when it comes to making blanket statements over the whole group as a class.
The bottom line is, religion (specifically Christendom) does'nt have the patent when it comes to butchering other human beings. Maybe this will help. Actually I believe I was being kind in that rounded figure, since many of the modern dictators like Saddam Hussein are not even accounted for.
Democide is a relatively new term and is all inclusive. It includes the murder of any person or people by a government, including genocide, politicide, and mass murder. Included are the Christian crusades, witch hunts and Spanish inquisition, as well as those perpetrated by Stalin, Pol Pot, Hitler and others.
I understand this is a thread that is supposed to be about Good News, I've been following this thread and I haven't seen too much good news here and I understand that this is just my opinion, however it sure would be nice to see some good news here or I may have to close this thread.
