My daughter's dog grins ear to ear when he is pleased -but lopsidedly, contorting his body in the silliest display of 'wagging his body" in joy, when any of us return from a trip and cross the bridge -no matter how short the trip away was. They tried to video that once, and though it is blurry, one gets a small visual of his grinning display.

Another daughter's cat turns the water on in the tub to get a drink from the spout. He also takes the screws out of the shower door with his teeth -bored cat. He likes to play in the water and likes to play with snow, rolling up snowballs to bat around. His brother hates the snow and tries to tiptoe through it.

That may explain why the huge sheep dog in the little yard across the street barks almost constantly. When I go by in the morning he barks like crazy, but he's wagging his tail. He probably needs more room to run and just be a dog.

I once knew a cat who would position himself near a bird feeder and he had learned to kind of imitate the sound of a bird whistling. It sounded really weird and it took me a while to figure out it was the cat. I don't know if it ever helped him catch a bird, but I was amazed by it.
