LOL, I have to agree with you there...You are asking a question that nobody can answer, but my opinion is that it had to come from non life, since no life could have existed at the beginning of the universe, unless it was in another dimension or alternate universe...The more I learn the the more I realize how little I know.
Well, yes, if you consider self replicators life. They gave rise to DNA and so on. It'd be quite a long story to map all that out up to the present time. It would be a very, very long post.

But I would still ask the OP author: how do you conveniently define life? Only something with an undefinable and unmeasurable spirit onboard?
Or simply a successful replicator DNA-containing molecule set that's capable of responding to it's environment in some effective way, and then pass on it's attributes and improvements to the next generation?
I agree with eanassir,life is not just a load of molecules and atoms,it is spirit which is the consioussness,the soul is the essence where the spirit comes from.without the soul the body's become lifeless and turn's to dead matter,but hey it will be dinner for trillions.

I will stick to the bible, God created the world and then let us create. meaning life comes from life but it is because of the life he gave us.
So somewhere during the past oh..10,000 years dinosaurs roamed the earth? Because if the Genesis time line is true [and you seem to think it is] and God created everything that has ever been on Earth, then dinosaurs and men inhabited the Earth together. And that my friend, is HIGHLY unlikely.
